Program Overview
This performance-based grant provides financial and practical support to reduce barriers for early-career physicians who want to practice outside the traditional insurance/employment system and for those looking to escape the system and venture out on their own. Our task is to improve primary care access in Louisiana where there are many underserved locales.
- Up to ~$25,000 startup grant
- Monthly operating support for the first 12 months
- Flexible suite of resources (EHR stipend, legal/formation help, malpractice bridge, marketing support, etc.)
- Priority for LSUHSC Primary Care Scholar / Rural Scholar alumni and those serving underserved/rural areas
How It Works (Phased & Performance-Based)
- Startup Phase: Initial funding upon award for legal formation, insurance, setup.
- Operating Phase: Monthly support begins only after independent verification that your practice is open and seeing patients.
- Clear milestones and reporting to ensure accountability and public benefit.
