DPC Geaux: Practice Transition Grant Program

Program Overview

The DPC Geaux Grant Program is a carefully structured initiative of the Louisiana Direct Primary Care Coalition designed to expand primary care access across Louisiana, especially in rural and underserved communities. Establishing an independent practice can be daunting. This program provides encouragement, mentoring, educational resources, and targeted financial support to Family Medicine physicians who commit to launching new independent Direct Primary Care practices in areas of high need.

How It Works

  1. Startup Phase: Initial advance and startup support upon award to help with legal formation, insurance, and practice setup.
  2. Operating Phase: Monthly support begins after confirmation that the practice is open and seeing patients.
  3. Clear milestones, reporting, and accountability to ensure the program delivers public benefit.

Eligibility

Our Application Committee carefully reviews each application to help ensure the best fit for the communities applicants will serve. Special attention is given to physicians who plan to practice in rural or underserved areas (including urban areas of high need) and to alumni of the LSUHSC Primary Care Scholar or Rural Scholar programs.

Application & Timeline

Full program guidelines, application form, and selection rubric will be available in Fall 2026. First awards are targeted for early 2027.
